St. Paul School - Second Grade - Rowley at 1755 W. Harrison Blvd., Valparaiso, IN 46385 US - Home
Happy Valentine’s Day! (tomorrow) We have some work to do in the morning; however, we will have a lot of Valentine fun in the afternoon. We will be exchanging Valentines in the afternoon, so your child may bring them in tomorrow. Remember there are 26 kids and everyone gets one. Thank you again to the parents who are sending in treats. Also, tomorrow is our dress down day. Your child need not wear their uniform; Valentine shirts may be worn, but they do not have to. These next two weeks are short weeks, but we have a lot to work on. Hang on to this newsletter for next week too.
We will be working on the next story and spelling list for the next two weeks. The spelling words are in the planner today, but the test will be next Friday. Since we have some extra time on our story this week, I will be giving both reading tests. After this story, our reading testing procedures will only be the ISTEP test. Therefore, please review the skills of the week I type as our focuses and on the reading and grammar workbook pages sent home nightly. Focus on the vocabulary words as well, using them in a sentence different ways. This will help prepare them for third grade.
The next two week’s focuses are: The Church, Celebrating Baptism and Confirmation, sounds and spellings of oo, ui, ew, ue, oe, making predictions, irregular verbs, comparing and contrasting, compound words, book titles, repetition and word choice, interpreting tables and graphs, and Sun, Moon, and Stars
This and next week’s tests include:
Tuesday (2/14): Science Test and study guide – Ch. 2
Wednesday (2/15): Religion Ch. 10 Test - The Church and Music Test
Wednesday (2/22): Ch. 16 Math Test – tables and graphs
Thursday (2/23): Reading story selection test – Super Storms (book will come home)
Friday (2/24): Spelling and Reading ISTEP test – Super Storms
Congratulations to Sophia J. and William for completing their addition rockets!
Have a wonderful and safe break!
God Bless
Mrs. Rowley
